We want to hear from you!

Tell us how you feel about diabetes digital technology. We want to know if you think diabetes digital technology helps to manage diabetes. Have you or the person you care for used diabetes digital technology to manage diabetes and what was your experience?

When we talk about "diabetes digital technology" in our survey we mean things like:

• Apps;
• Websites, webinars and online videos
• Flash Glucose Monitors (FGM) such as Freestyle Libre;
• Insulin pumps;
• Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM);
• Virtual diabetes events and communications for example a video call;
• Any other similar digital technology.

Your views will inform our shared focus on achieving better outcomes for people living with diabetes, better care for individuals, better use of what resources we have and the necessary support for diabetes health care teams to deliver consistently excellent care in Northern Ireland.

Over the last decade, there has been considerable innovation in digital technology available to support people living with diabetes. The challenge is to ensure that innovation is encouraged and that the introduction of new technology is managed in a structured and considered way.

The Diabetes Network for Northern Ireland was established in 2016 and brings together people living with diabetes, their carers and health and social care professionals to work in partnership on the design and delivery of better diabetes services. The Network is led by the Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) in partnership with the Public Health Agency and Diabetes UK Northern Ireland.

There are over 100,000 people in Northern Ireland living with diabetes and this rises annually by more than 3,000 due to our ageing and growing population. It is estimated around 12,000 people are also living with Type 2 diabetes and have not yet been diagnosed. Diabetes Digital Technology is fast changing and we want to hear your views.

This information is being collected under public task and will be used solely for the purposes intended. The personal information collected will be used to get in contact with you to inform you further about the Diabetes Network NI and will not be shared outside The Health and Social Care Board. All data will be destroyed as soon as there is no business reason to keep it and data will be reviewed in line with our disposal and retention policy.

What happens next

Your views will inform how diabetes digital technology is co-produced, co-designed, planned, commissioned and delivered in Northern Ireland.

Feedback will be shared with key decision makers in the Diabetes Network.
