Social Care Council - Review of Degree - Line Manager Survey (2023-24)

Closed 15 Mar 2024

Opened 18 Dec 2023

Overview

The Northern Ireland Social Care Council is currently undertaking the fourth periodic review of the Degree in Social Work.  This survey is for social work managers to share their experience of the outcomes of the Degree in Social Work through their work with newly qualified social workers (NQSW) and students.

The purpose of the Review of the Degree in Social Work is to examine the quality of provision measured against the Framework Specification for the Degree in Social Work and the Rules for the Approval of the Degree in Social Work.  Professional social work needs to be responsive and anticipatory to meet the challenges of changing need, growing demand and new ways of working. Responses to this survey will help assess the extent to which the Degree in Social Work equips students to respond to current and emerging need.

Why your views matter

There are just over 700 people studying on the Degree in Social Work courses in Northern Ireland.  The Social Care Council works closely with all stakeholders to ensure the Degree provides the learning opportunities students need to help them develop the skills and knowledge required for their role when they join the workforce as a newly qualified social worker.  Your feedback will be used to help inform the standards and ongoing development of the Degree and Practice Learning to ensure it meets the needs of students, education providers, service users and employers.

What happens next

This Review of the Degree survey for Line Managers of newly qualified social workers was open from 18 December 2023 - 15 March 2024.  Responses have been used to improve the content of teaching and practice learning for Degree in Social Work students in Northern Ireland.
