Research conference 2027 - Abstracts submission form

Overview

Annual Social Work and Social Care Research in Practice Conference 2027 -Abstracts Submission Form

The 14th annual Social Work and Social Care Research in Practice Conference will be held in Riddel Hall on the 10th March 2027. This event is organised by the Social Care Council in partnership with the research community. The conference offers a platform in Northern Ireland for social workers, social care practitioners, service users and carers, policy makers and experienced academics and researchers, to engage with each other about research and evidence, and present research findings.

The theme for March 2027 is: "Shaping Tomorrow Together: Human Rights, Reform, Workforce, and Voices that Matter.".

Shaping the future together means collaboratively working towards creating a better tomorrow by making thoughtful decisions, fostering team work and networks and considering the well-being of others in our actions today. It is a collective responsibility. Leaders, decision makers, individuals and communities all have role to play to ensure that tomorrow is not just a continuation of today but an improvement.

We are calling for individuals and teams who may be interested in presenting abstracts on a research study, a systematic review or innovation and practice developments relevant to the conference title and theme.

Presentations are welcomed from a wide range of interest groups, including:

  • Researchers
  • Managers
  • Staff in learning and development teams
  • Academics
  • Students
  • Social care and social work practitioners
  • Practitioners from other professions
  • People with lived experience who receive services and their carers

Applications for abstracts must be submitted through this online form. If you require assistance in completing the form, please contact Andriana Alkiviadou, at: SWSCResearchConference@hscni.net

The closing date for applications is: 5:00pm on Friday 18th December 2026.

Please note: this form will ask you to provide a 500 word summary of the abstract you wish to present at the conference. All applications will be assessed based on the information provided to demonstrate relevance to the conference theme, meaningful service user and carer involvement and the contribution of the study outcomes towards positive change in social work and social care practice and services. Outcomes will be sent by email directly to the named contact on the application form no later than 30th January 2026.
