Review of 'Guidance on support for social work students' - Academic & Practice Learning staff feedback - 2025
Overview
The Northern Ireland Social Care Council (the Social Care Council), the Degree in Social Work Partnership (NIDSWP) are currently reviewing the guidance document 'How students are supported with social work training - FAQ for academic and practice learning staff' (November 2023). Social work academic and practice learning staff are invited to share their views and experiences of using this guidance in their role within social work student training.
Please note: a copy of this guidance document is available to download from the link at the bottom of this page.
We would like to hear your views as a person involved in academic teaching on the Degree, or as staff involved in supporting practice learning who support social work students to develop their skills and experience in social work services. This survey is made up of nine short questions and should take around 10 minutes to complete.
This survey will be open until 9am on Monday 15 September 2025.
All responses are anonymous. The data provided will only be used for improvements to the 'How students are supported with social work training - FAQ for academic and practice learning staff' resource. All information will be retained securely by the Social Care Council and disposed of in accordance with GDPR guidelines when the review is completed.

Why your views matter
There are just over 750 people studying on the Degree in Social Work courses in Northern Ireland. The Social Care Council works closely with all stakeholders to ensure the Degree provides the learning opportunities students need to help them develop the skills and knowledge required for their role when they join the workforce as a newly qualified social worker. Your feedback will be used to help inform 'How students are supported with social work training - FAQ for academic and practice learning staff' resource.
