The Department of Health is seeking your views on amendments we are proposing to make to the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (Membership, Procedure, Functions and Committee) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 (the 2012 Regulations).

The key aim of these amendments is to enable the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI) to function with even greater efficiency and effectiveness.

The Department is proposing to amend the 2012 Regulations in relation to the following:

  • Quoracy in SBNI meetings and proceedings;
  • Criteria for, and learning from, Case Management Reviews;
  • Staffing and corporate hosting;
  • Local council membership of the SBNI.
