DoH Career Development survey

Closed 1 Mar 2023

Opened 13 Feb 2023

Overview

As you will be aware work has started on an organisational re-design of the Department.  This re-design will ensure we have the most sustainable and appropriate organisational model for the future and our aim is to ensure our people are matched to our most important and pressing tasks, reflecting the Department's mission and priorities.

We are keen to gather up to date information on the skills, experience and expertise in the Department and have developed this Career Development survey to help us.

You will need to refer to the NICS Competency Framework to assist with some of your responses.  For ease of reference you will find it at  Northern Ireland Civil Service Competency Framework

Why your views matter

This Career Development form gives you the opportunity to tell us about you, your skills and experience and your career aspirations. The information you provide is in confidence and does not require line management approval and will only be used for the purposes of this exercise and to support talent management, succession and workforce planning in DOH.  Whilst it is not mandatory you may wish to share your development aspirations with your line manager to help inform your 2023/2024 PDP discussion. (There will be an opportunity to have a receipt and link to a PDF copy of your survey responses in the 'Almost Done' section at the end).

What happens next

The information gathered will inform our work on aligning staff resources to the organisational priorities.  It will help us facilitate moves that will allow staff to broaden their knowledge and/or enhance their skills base.  Staff should be aware that there is no guarantee that their stated preferences can be met and that any movement of staff will take time and will not be immediate. Whilst it is not mandatory you may wish to share this information with  your line manager to help inform 2023/2024 PPA/PDP discussions.
