NICS LGBTQ+ Staff Network Registration for AGM, Active Bystander Training & Membership

Overview

The NICS LGBTQ+ Staff Network extends an invitation to all colleagues to join our upcoming virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 26th March from 13:00 to 13:30. Whether you identify as LGBTQ+ or an ally, you are warmly welcomed to attend, regardless of Network membership.

AGM Agenda

During the AGM, we will provide an update on the Network's achievements over the year and progress on key initiatives. Attendees will also be able to participate and elect new Committee members.

The Network is led by colleagues from across NICS who give a small amount of time to help shape activity, events and priorities. We are currently looking for new Committee members to bring fresh ideas and perspectives. No previous experience is required and involvement can fit around your existing role. An informal conversation with the CoChairs is a good way to learn more before deciding whether to apply. Further information on Committee roles and how to get involved is available here. If you are interested, please contact the Network to arrange a chat ahead of the AGM.

Active Bystander Training

The Network is partnering with Nexus Training to deliver both virtual and inperson Active Bystander Training sessions. This training is for all colleagues and applies to supporting all groups, not just LGBTQ+ people. It focuses on building confidence to challenge unacceptable behaviour wherever it occurs and to contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace for everyone.

The session will support participants to:

  • challenge common myths and attitudes
  • understand what can prevent people from intervening
  • recognise factors that influence decision‑making in the moment
  • feel more confident responding safely and appropriately
  • contribute to a culture of no tolerance towards unacceptable behaviour

Further sessions are planned later in the year. If you are interested in attending future sessions, please complete the form and you will be notified when new dates are available.
