Overview

This public consultation seeks input from all stakeholders and members of the public on the proposal to introduce mandatory bovine Electronic Identification (EID) for all newborn cattle in Northern Ireland during 2027. The introduction of mandatory bovine EID aims to enhance traceability, improve health and safety and animal health management, and streamline processes across the agri-food sector.

A full copy of the consultation document and impact assessments, setting out the benefits of bovine EID, the financial implications and how bovine EID could be implemented in NI can be accessed at www.daera-ni.gov.uk/consultations/bEID
