Consultation on Violence and Aggression in the Workplace HSC Framework

Closes 26 Aug 2022

Opened 27 Jun 2022

Overview

The Violence and Aggression in the Workplace HSC Framework has been developed in response to concerns within HSC organisations and the Department of Health to the levels of aggressive incidents experienced by staff while carrying out their duties in providing Health care services to the public. HSC staff have the right to feel safe from harassment and verbal and physical abuse while doing their jobs.

The purpose of this framework is to outline the HSC commitment in partnership with staff representatives, to ensure the prevention, reduction and management of violence and aggression towards staff in the workplace, and to ensure associated structures, policies and support is in place to enable staff to work safely. This framework has been revised in light of early consultation with key stakeholders and a final draft is now ready for public consultation.

Why your views matter

Development of this framework is key to facilitating HSC organisations across the region in developing the process, structures and governance to keep HSC staff as safe as possible. It is important to ensure any policy put in place is therefore robust and effective in meeting this aim. The Department of Health are now seeking your views on this document and would encourage anyone who is interested to review the related consultation documents below and respond to the consultation either via the online survey or by completing the consultation response document and returning it via e-mail to P&E@health-ni.gov.uk  or or returning a hard copy to Workforce Policy Directorate, Room D1, Castle Buildings, Stormont, Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast BT4 3SJ.
