Changing Places toilet provision - Consultation on proposed amendment of the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 Technical Booklet Part R (Access to and use of buildings)

Overview

Changing Places toilet (CPT) facilities meet the needs of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities as well as people with other physical disabilities such as spinal injuries, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.

The Department of Finance (DoF) hereby present proposals to implement amendments to local Building Regulations technical guidance that would ensure specific new/relevant large buildings commonly used by the public are fitted with CPT facilities in a properly targeted and proportionate manner, thus enhancing equality and inclusion within the built environment.

Why your views matter

DoF is seeking stakeholder views on the proposal to increase the provision of CPTs through the amendment of building regulations technical guidance. Your views will help to inform the development of final policy proposals.
